Executive produced by Hollywood royalty Robert Downey Jr, the series stars Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) and Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones) as well as child actor Christian Convery in the title role.

Here's everything you need to know about Sweet Tooth on Netflix, including release date, cast, plot, trailer and more.

Sweet Tooth Netflix release date

CONFIRMED: Sweet Tooth will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix from Friday 4th June.

The series was commissioned for a first season back in May 2020, but production couldn't get underway until later in the year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sweet Tooth plot explained

Sweet Tooth – Netflix
Netflix

Sweet Tooth takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where humanity has been almost wiped out by a deadly virus, which first broke out around the same time as human-animal 'hybrids' began appearing around the world.

Gus is one such person, a naive and timid young boy who is half human and half deer, living in secret in the deep woods of Nebraska with his sickly and unstable father.

When his dad finally succumbs to illness, Gus is all alone in a frightening world and almost gets abducted by a dangerous group of men, until a mysterious loner named Jepperd rescues him.

The two of them go on a journey together that reveals the last remnants of society as we know it, encountering desperate survivors and dangerous foes. If you want more details, read our spoiler-free Sweet Tooth review.

Sweet Tooth Netflix cast

Child actor Christian Convery (Legion) leads the Sweet Tooth cast as Gus, who is given the nickname Sweet Tooth because he loves eating chocolate.

Will Forte, best known for his comedic roles in The Last Man on Earth and 30 Rock, will play Gus' father, who is highly protective of him and warns never to leave their home in the woods.

Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Jepperd, a tough loner who finds Gus just in time to save him from a group of dangerous men, but his own intentions remain mysterious.

Adeel Akhtar (The Big Sick) plays Dr Singh, an expert in medicine who investigates the link between the deadly virus that ravaged the human race and the peculiar animal hybrids that emerged at around the same time.

Neil Sandilands (The Flash) will play General Abbot, a cold military mind who becomes a formidable rival to Gus and Jepperd, while James Brolin (Life in Pieces) will serve as the show's narrator.

Rounding out the supporting cast are Dania Ramirez (Once Upon A Time), Stefania LaVie Owen (Messiah) and Aliza Vellani (Riverdale).
